Operation principle : Control shaft assembly is operated by shifting the shift lever.
Repair procedures
1. | Set shift lever to N position. |
2. | Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct. (Refer to Engine Mechnical System - "Air Cleaner") |
3. | Remove the battery and battery tray. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Battery") |

5. | Disconnect the back-up lamp switch connector (A). ![](images/control_shaft_complete-3437/3259/scnmt11300d.gif)

6. | Remove the snap pin (A) and then separate the shift cable (B) and the select cable (C) from the control shaft complete. ![](images/control_shaft_complete-3437/3259/scnmt11301d.gif)

7. | Remove the control shaft assembly (A) after loosening the bolts. Tightening torque : 19.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.7 kgf.m,14.5 - 19.5 lb-ft) |

1. | To install, reverse the removal procedures. |

| Apply the sealant to the contact surface of transaxle and control shaft. Specified sealant : LOCTITE 5060 or equivalent |
