Hyundai Elantra: Driving Safety / Safe Exit Warning (SEW)
After the vehicle stops, when an
approaching vehicle from the rear area is
detected as soon as a passenger opens
a door, Safe Exit Warning will warn the
driver with a warning message and
an audible warning to help prevent a
collision.
CAUTION
Warning timing may vary depending on
the speed of the approaching vehicle.
Detecting sensor
The rear corner radars are sensors
located inside the rear bumper to help
detect the side and rear areas. Always
keep the rear bumper clean for proper
operation of Safe Exit Warning.
NOTICE
For more details on the precautions of
the rear corner radars, refer to “Blind-
Spot Collision Warning (BCW)” or
“Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
(BCA)” section in chapter 7.
Function malfunction
When Blind-Spot Safety system is not
working properly, the ‘Check Blind-Spot
Safety system(s)’ warning message will
appear on the cluster, and the system
will turn off automatically or the system
will be limited...
Setting
Safe Exit Assist
With the engine on, select ‘Driver
Assistance → Blind-Spot Safety → Safe Exit
Assist (SEA)’ from the Settings menu to
turn on Safe Exit Warning and deselect to
turn off the function...
Other information:
Check the parking brake
warning light by placing the
ignition switch to the ON
position (do not start the
engine).
This light will be illuminated when the
parking brake is applied with the ignition
switch in the START or ON position.
If the parking brake warning light
remains on after the parking brake
is released while engine is running,
there may be a malfunction in the
brake system...
Function malfunction
When Lane Keeping Assist is not working
properly, the ‘Check Lane Keeping Assist
(LKA) system’ warning message will
appear and the yellow indicator
light will illuminate on the cluster. If this
occurs, we recommend that the system
be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer...
